The two addresses contained in Love Made Perfect were delivered at the opening and closing of the South African Keswick Mission of 1893. Andrew Murray was the president of the South African General Mission, and these addresses explore the nature of God’s love and the heart of missionary work.

Christian strives and fights and prays and wrestles to conquer, but in vain. It is self which is the one only cause of his failure. He tries to pluck off a fruit here and a bud there; he cuts off one branch after another of this terrible foe to love. He vows and strives and perhaps does grow a little in love, yet at the bottom has not got rest, and why? There is Something there that will not Love.
